We named her Rocinante after the vehicle Monterey
County's favorite son, John Steinbeck, used to travel across
the United States in 1960. It was his experiences on this
journey that became the great book, Travels with Charley.
Steinbeck, of course, got his inspiration for the name from
Don Quixote's horse in Cervantes' classic, "The Man of
La Mancha". So, the name Rocinante honors the spirit
of adventure and exploration that has captivated mankind throughout
our history, and pays homage to one of the area's most colorful
characters.
